Wendy always had a passion for acting in community theater and a hunger to work in the entertainment industry whether it was television or radio. Her love for the industry and perseverance led her to pursue a career in radio. Wendy began as an intern at several major Long Island radio stations including: WLIM, WRCN, WRIV, and Island 94.3 in the promotions and programming departments. She decided to pursue her dream by moving out to California to obtain a job in radio. She landed an internship at KZLA, a large market radio station in Los Angeles, California as an intern. While in California, Wendy was a background actress in Hollywood films including “Mr. Baseball,” “American Me,” and the popular syndicated television show “Ed.” She was also a contestant for the hit TV show “Love Connection” starring host Chuck Woolery.
Wendy moved back to New York to study voice acting at the West Barron School of Acting and Voice-Overs in Manhattan New York. She took professional voice-over lessons and received voice coaching from the renowned voice-over talent, Wendy Dillon. Together, they cut Ms. Summer’s first professional demo at Full House Studios in Manhattan. The demo led to Wendy’s first professional gig in 1999 with Love 96.1, an east-end and Bookhaven radio station on Long Island, She took on the roles of midday on-air host and promotions director. She was mentored by Long Island veteran radio talent Jay Letterman, formerly on WALK 97.5 FM. She was promoted to account executive. Wendy was offered the opportunity to host “The Affection Connection,” a weekly love song requested show at Love 96.1. She was the voice behind major commercial spots such as Lexus, Mercedes Benz, Broadway.com, Sleepy’s and more.
Wendy has had many highlights throughout her career, including having the opportunity to work with Anthony Robbins, an acclaimed motivational speaker, top-peak performance coach, and author, for his “Unleash the Power Within Seminar” after she won a partial scholarship to attend one of his seminars.
Wendy has completed several infommercials to date for television including narration for “The Park Avenue Secret” an anti-aging skin care product for Plastic Surgeon to the stars, Dr. Neil Sadek. She also was the voice behind an infomercial for Beachbody, featuring exercise guru Leandro Carvahlo for “The Brazil Butt Lift”. She was selected from an audition process through Voice123 by the production company Mayhew Breen. Mayhew Breen produced both infomercials which were recorded at Penny Lane Studios in Manhattan in 2011 and 2013. “The Brazil Butt Lift” had a successful run on it’s daily rotation schedule on numerous cable outlets including “E!”, “WE”, “The Food Network”, “CNBC”, “Discovery Channel” many other channels.
Wendy also was a VJ host of a radio and on camera how called “The Summers Retro Cafe.” She was responsible for selecting playlists and wrote her own material for the show. She also orchestrated promotions for artist concert giveaways at the Paramount Theater in Huntington. They included “Meet and Greets” and artist interviews with Rick Springfield and Eddie Money. Wendy continues to have a passion for interviewing artists and celebrities and welcomes the opportunity for upcoming bookings and podcast on www.wlix.fm .
Wendy’s voice can be heard twenty four hours each day on station ID’s, liners and commercials on WLIX radio 93.3 and 94.7 “Easy Favorites” in New York. Wendy serves as the voice of the station and the “Specialty Features Host” conducting retro artists podcasts for the station. She remains an active voice over talent freelancing for various clients including Trans West Media Productions on Long Island and is a Premium Subscriber and Voice Over Talent on Voice123, booking promos and commercial spots for both radio and television. Wendy is seeking agent representation and management at this time and welcomes all serious inquiries.
